How Ozone Oxidizes Gases



	Ozone, (Activated Oxygen) Oxidizes Gases (And in the process destroys pollution)

				Ozone (03) is a normal trace element in the earth’s atmosphere. Ozone is a substance and a different chemical from Oxygen (O2) which supports life on the earth. Ozone is created in the atmosphere by the action of ultraviolet light from the sun on the oxygen in the air.
	We don’t want to give you the chemists’ explanation, but simply say whenever we are outdoors we breathe ozone. The amount will vary according to the location, but will average approx. 0.01 Parts Per Million. At this low level, it is undetectable and can be breathed with safety 24 hours daily. In addition to the volume of ozone produced by ultraviolet energy, a much smaller amount is formed by high voltage electrical discharges during thunderstorms. The maximum concentration occurs between 13 and 16 miles above the earth’s surface. This ozone layer in the upper atmosphere is beneficial to man because it protects life on earth by absorbing short wave length ultraviolet radiation. Ozone prevents most of this radiation from reaching the surface of the earth. Such large amounts could be fatal to man if they were exposed to it.

	Compounds react with OZONE in a process similar to combustion. The reaction of an organic compound with OZONE and the combustion of the same compound yield carbon dioxide and water as the main end-products. Formaldehyde is a common contaminant found in most buildings. It is a TOXIN and outgasses from plywood, pressed wood products, carpeting and vinyls. It is ranked along with MOLD as one of the most serious ALLERGENS and must be controlled so a clean air state can exist. EXAMPLE FORMALDEHYDE Reaction with OZONE HCHO + 203 yield CO2 + H2O + 2O2

	PremierOne creates UV-V (01) with a special UV lamp. The size of the lamp used creates a predictable amount of UV-V. UV-V production is limited to those times when the furnace blower is running and is controlled with a balancing function which keeps the residual ozone level at less than F.D.A. regulations of .05 ppm.
